At the NRP our mission is to initiate and foster research demonstrating that a plant-based, high-nutrient, whole-foods diet can not only treat and reverse disease (such as autoimmune illnesses, diabetes, heart disease and cancer), but prevent it from ever happening in the first place.

As the end of 2011 draws near, it is a good time to reconnect with our goals and see how far we have come. With the support of a community hungry for healthier options we have accomplished quite a bit in our first year.

We have several new studies underway and the momentum is accelerating. As optimistic as we are, there is still so much to do.

In 2012, the NRP must raise at least one million dollars. We have $50,000 committed for the DHA study and will need an additional $50,000 to complete it. We have raised $100,000 for the Breast Cancer Prevention and Cardiovascular Disease studies. Both studies will cost about one million dollars.

It’s is still early in the game so, even though we are so proud of how far we have come we can not slow down or spend very much time looking back.

Please read a bit about our upcoming studies and share this update with anyone you know who believes in the power of nutritional science.

Adequacy of Essential Fatty Acid Intake in a Vegan Diet
Once Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval from the University of San Diego is received we will begin soliciting participants. Approval is expected before end of the year.

• Breast Cancer Prevention Study
Noting the over abundance of breast cancer awareness Dr. Fuhrman has turned his focus to a study on prevention and understanding about what diet specifically helps block the occurrence of this cancer.

Cardiovascular Disease Study
This study is in the review stage of its proposal phase, and should be launching in the near future.

There are many ways you can be involved in the NRP. You can donate, participate in a study, or volunteer. Please let us know how you want to help! info@nutritionalresearch.org
